Luo rhumba artist Eliakim Rogo is set for his first album launch title Caro Nyathi Nyabodo (Caro the child of Nyabondo), in April this year.
The launch will be held at the Mwisho Mwisho Club in Siaya County on April 03, in conjunction with Siaya based Ratego FM. The event will be graced by Ohangla music maestro Prince Indah, in what can be termed as rhumba meeting Ohangla live on stage.
During a phone interview on Sunday, Rogo said that he made a decision to launch his first album in Siaya due to the massive support he received in the County after he released his first song last year.
“I decided to launch the album in Siaya because it is home. I wanted to start home first before moving on to other places like Nairobi. However, most important is that I received overwhelming support in Siaya when I released my first song in August last year,” said Rogo who runs the Sweet Melody Jazz Band.
On why he decided to partner with Prince Indah during the launch, he had this to say, “Prince Indah has a lot of fans, he is doing fine as far as Ohangla music is concerned and then he is a very understanding person whom you can sit down with and have a fruitful discussion,” said the father of three.
Sweet Melody Jazz Band was formed almost a year ago. It consists of over 10 artists. The band’s first album has seven songs, among them Caro Nyathi Nyabando (Caro the child of Nyabondo), Safari yaMapenzi (the journey of love) and Osiepe Maradiera (true friends).
Rogo said the second album will contain some Swahili songs, so as not to lock out fans who do not understand Dholuo.
