The widower of late Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso, Edwin Abonyo has promised to support incoming Governor Hillary Barchok.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of the governor, Abonyo said his family is fully behind the county boss as he seeks to leave behind a legacy during his leadership.
Abonyo noted that his family does not oppose Barchok ascending to governorship, adding that the same is enshrined in the Constitution.
He said his family shares cordial ties with the incoming county boss, and will work with him to ensure he leaves a lasting legacy.
“There is no contestation about you taking over…You have our support as a family,” Abonyo said.
Barchok has promised to follow Laboso's footsteps, adding that he will complete all the projects the late governor initiated before he completes his tenure in office.
“I commit to ensuring that the values and principles Dr Joyce Laboso stood for will be reflected in my leadership. It is upon us all to live in a way that honours her memory,” he said.
"I will personally ensure that the ‘Inua mama na kuku’ program roll-out will be completed," he added.
