Marianne Kitany, alleged wife of embattled Meru Senator Mithika Linturi, has explained the reason behind her absence at the Senator's father's burial on Monday.
Peter Linturi, 74, was buried at his home in Igembe South on Tuesday, after a funeral service at Athi Primary School, a function Kitany skipped after initially indicating that she would attend.
Addressing her absence on later in the day, Kitany who is in the process of divorcing Linturi cited security reasons, saying that she had leant of possible violence at the function.
She claimed having information about goons who had been hired to keep her off the function, saying that she feared for her life as a result, hence the decision.
I was informed that goons had been hired to block my entry and had I succeeded to gain entry, I would have been harmed," she is quoted by the Standard.
In a statement on Monday, she said that she has find memories of the old man, including being involved in an accident on their way to Meru from Nairobi early last year.
Kitany said that she had driven both Mr Linturi and his wife to the Karen Hospital after they both fell sick, after which they spent the next few days at her home in Runda.
"There is a lot more I could share in terms of fond memories with the Late Mzee. May his soul rest in peace," she said.
