She was schooling at Langas Golden Ghetto Primary School sponsored by some church members and her mother has been ailing with cancer for the past two years.

Through the efforts of North Rift Director of Education John Ololtua and Uasin Gishu County commissioner Abdirisack Jaldesa, the 14-year girl was admitted to St Georges Girls School in Kapseret.

Speaking after taking the girl to school on Tuesday,  Ololtua said the government aims at ensuring that all pupils who completed class eight transit to high school.

“After reading from the press about the problems faced by the child, as the government, we felt that we need to support this bright child from a poor background pursue her education. We visited their home and surely she needed help,” said Ololtua.

He reiterated that the government will ensure that the girl completes her education by paying her school fees, shopping, transport among others.

Amita thanked the government for sponsoring her education.

“I am short of words since I had lost hope of going to school but I want to thank the government for seeing the need to help me and I promise that I will work hard to become a neurosurgeon and help my family members,” she said.
