Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has asked the police to arrest Nominated Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda following a scuffle with Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.
In a tweet on Monday night, Khalwale questioned why Nyoro was arrested when his colleague Maina is still walking scot-free after an altercation at a church function.
The ex-senator, who has since vowed to stand with Deputy President William Ruto, said that the government should not apply double standards when handling some matters of national interest like this one for the sake of the unity of the country. He also said that the arrests of DP Ruto’s allies are sending a strong message.
“Somebody in the deep state thinks they can use force to intimidate leaders. Well, it never works! They arrested me hoping to silence me in 2017 (first photo) Now they are trying it on Hon Ndindi Nyoro. It won't work! Why haven't they also arrested Hon Kamanda?”
Ndindi had earlier on said that his arrest has nothing to do with the scuffle at the Church function in Murang’ a. He said that he is a victim of circumstances because of his support for Deputy President. He noted that no amount of intimidation will make him change his mind any time soon, adding that he is strong to forge on.
“It should be noted that my mistake is failure to heed to Kamanda’s request that I support Raila’s political mission,” said the Kiharu MP.
