The angry residents blocked the Kenyatta Highway as police attempted to disperse them. They burned tyres on the roads and sang songs as they reacted to the arrest of the lawmaker.

The residents engaged police in running battles forcing them to lobby teargas in a bid to disperse them from the scene of the incident. Nyoro was arrested by General Service Unit (GSU) officers moments after he left Kameme Studio at the St James Cathedral in Muranga.

He was in the company of MPs Peter Kimari (Mathioya) and Mr Muturi Kigano (Kangema) before he was arrested.

Confirming the arrest of the lawmaker, Muranga County Criminal Investigations Officer Julius Rutere said that the legislator is expected to be charged for resisting arrest after the officers asked him to accompany them to the headquarters and he refused to cooperate with them.

Nyoro has since attributed his woes to his allegiance to Deputy President William Ruto.

He believes the allies of the second in command want him to bow to pressure so that he can stand with ODM Leader Raila Amolo Odinga when that time comes.
