Garissa Township Member of Parliament and Leader of the Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale hosted renowned journalist Jacque Maribe at his palatial home in Garissa County during the shooting of the 'Newsmakers' programme after the 2013 general elections.
The two demonstrated a lot of chemistry during the meeting, trading banter and engaging in serious talk.
It is during the meeting that the outspoken legislator revealed to the svelte anchor when he would retire from politics.
Duale revealed that he would only retire from politics after ensuring that Deputy President William Ruto ascends to the presidency.
He said that he wished he would retire with [resident Uhuru Kenyatta but since he wanted to see Ruto become president, he would retire much later.
"I would wish to retire with his Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta. But since my soulmate wants to become president, I think about the role I can play. The day I will see William Ruto as president, I will shake his hand and say, "My friend, goodbye," Duale told Maribe.
Duale is a close ally and confidant of DP Ruto.
The deputy president is expected to run for the presidency in 2022.
