The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has slammed Teachers Service Commission (TSC) over de-registration of their secretary general Wilson Sossion.
In a tweet on Friday afternoon, the Knut pointed out that TSC have no say when it comes to choosing or appointing of the union secretary general.
''FOR AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT. The KNUT Secretary General is Hon Wilson Sossion. He is dully elected and registered with the registra of trade unions as per the laws and constitution of the union and of the nation of Kenya. NOTE. @TSC_KE does not choose or appoint an SG for teachers,'' said Knut.
This comes hours after TSC gazetted a notice that axed Wilson Sossion from the teacher's register.
According to a gazette notice signed by TSC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nancy Macharia, Sossion will no longer be regarded as a teacher.
Sossion's vows with TSC started when he joined politics.
In 2017, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party nominated Sossion into the National Assembly.
An adamant Sossion has on various occasion maintained that his removal from TSC will not affect his position at Knut.
“A lot of misinformation is being peddled about a (court) ruling with respect to my relationship with TSC on employment contract. The matter under contestation has been exclusively on employment contract and not registration,” he stated as quoted by Capital FM.
