Kathiani Member of Parliament Robert Mbui has supported President Uhuru Kenyatta's sentiments on budgetary allocations to counties.
Speaking on Friday, Mbui said that the Senate's work is not to make a budget, adding that senators should keep off the issue.
He argued that the Senate is the cause of the stalemate on the allocation of funds to counties, adding that senators should stay on their lane.
Mbui who was speaking during an event at Ngoleni Secondary School said that the money allocated to counties is enough, noting that governors should first utilise what they have before asking for more funds.
"I want to thank President Uhuru Kenyatta for his speech about the budgetary allocations to counties. He said he does not see the need for counties to be allocated more money. The counties have been given a lot of money it's only a question of allocation," said Mbui.
"Senators should stop meddling in the budgetary allocations. Issues about budget are the work of the National Assembly let them do their work and keep off the issue," he added.
He said a lot of counties are still lagging behind in terms of development because the governors are mismanaging the funds.
"We have had devolution for seven years now and most development projects in the counties have been funded by the Constituency Development Funds (CDF). Let the county governments be content with the money given because even the constitution calls for the allocation of 15 per cent," he said.
During the burial of Peter Kenneth's mother on Thursday President Uhuru observed that there is no extra money to be given to the counties.
