Deputy President William Ruto has been warned against over-depending on his allied Members of Parliament for his 2022 presidential bid, on grounds that most of them do not even have any support where they come from.

According to Gem Member of Parliament Elisha Odhiambo, the MPs under the Tangatanga group are unreliable for the DP, as most are actually struggling to assure themselves of reelection in the coming elections.

He says that 70 per cent of them will be kicked out by the electorate, which the DP should put into consideration before casting his confidence in them to help him achieve his ambition to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"William Ruto should know that 70 per cent of members of the Tangatanga group will not go back to bunge (parliament). Hata MCAs (even Members of County Assemblies)," Odhiambo said on Radio Maisha on Wednesday morning.

The ODM parliamentarian said that though some of the MPs have been accompanying the DP in his tours, most have abandoned the very same people who elected them.

Consequently, he added, a good number are having very high chances of being punished by the electorate.

"Kuna wengine wanakuja Nairobi wanakataa kurudi nyumbani wanaenda hoteli kubwa wanakula chakula nzuri. Wengine wanashinda kwa chopper. Wataambiwa waende wachaguliwe na ndege huko kwa hewa. (Some have refused to go back home after coming to Nairobi. Others are eating good food in big hotels and others are always in choppers. They will be told to go and be elected by the birds in the air)," noted Odhiambo.

The MP said that it is also natural that most elected leaders never manage to secure reelection as has been witnessed in previous polls.
