A Jubaland security minister who escaped from prison on Tuesday on Friday arrived at Kismayo city by boat, Radio Garowe has reported.
Abdirashid Hassan alias Janan had escaped from a detention cell in Mogadishu causing a security scare in the Horn of Africa nation.
But Jubaland TV on Friday said "Janan has arrived on boat in Kismayo and he's sefe", without giving further details.
Reports indicate that Janan was sneaked out of the cells by soldiers who had been guarding him with some accompanying him to Kismayo, a city under the surveillance of KDF.
Jubaland, which is at loggerheads with Federal Government of Somalia, had on Tuesday demanded to know the whereabouts of the minister, who is popular in the Gedo region.
Janan, according to the East African, was arrested last year at Aden Adde International Airport over alleged crimes against humanity and has been in detention for five months.
Immediately after his arrival at Kismayo, his Planning and International Cooperation counterpart Adam Aw Hirsi also announced his resignation.
"Effective today, I’ve resigned from my docket as the Minister of @MoPICJubaland of @Jubaland. Conscience does not allow me to be a part of an administration that celebrates, harbors a fugitive accused of human rights violations. I thank my former boss for the privilege to serve,"Hirsi tweeted.
