The Springboks of South Africa have beaten England to lift the 2019 Rugby World Cup trophy.
It was a historic win for the South Africans who became the first team in the history of rugby to lift the world cup trophy after losing their opening game.
The victory came under the captaincy of Siya Kolisi, the first black captain of the South African rugby team.
South Africa beat England 32-12 in a scintillating fixture that was streamed live across the world.
"First team to win after losing their opening game Only team to win the Rugby Champs and World Cup in the same year Champions of the World, " the Springboks tweeted after their victory.
The Nelson Mandela was not left behind in congratulating the Springboks on winning the world cup.
"Today we join over 57 million South Africans in congratulating our team, the Springboks for their victory over England in Japan. This is the third trophy South Africa has lifted since the dawn of democracy, " the Nelson Mandela Foundation wrote on Twitter.
The final was played in Tokyo, the capital city of Japan.
South Africans took to the streets to celebrate the victory, a much-needed shot of positive publicity weeks after the country hogged international headlines over an outburst of xenophobic violence.
