Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has defended President Uhuru Kenyatta over what Kenyans have termed as unnecessary expenditure during his latest trips to Japan and Russia.
In a tweet on Sunday, the renowned lawyer faulted Kenyans accusing the Head of State of unnecessary expenditure, noting that the president's trips help market the country to the outside world.
''Some Kenyans are never serious. They are complaining about H.E Uhuru spending Sh50-65 million when he hired a private visit to Tokyo and Sochi...They can't see the benefit to Kenya's global image and the boost to tourism...and other benefit...Give H.E a break,'' Ahmednassir said.
Kenyans were fast to react after learning that the president and his delegation hired a private jet for the Japan, Russia trips.
Reports on Standard indicate that the jet boasts of luxurious features and is set aside for VIPs.
“There are three spacious cabins with sliding partition doors for privacy. The additional centre tanks allow the Airbus to fly nine hours non-stop while still allowing room for a cargo hold for intercontinental range,” the company thus describes the plane as quoted by Standard.
Reports on Standard indicate that the plane costs approximately Sh1.3 million to hire per hour.
