The outcome of the upcoming Kibra parliamentary by-election could leave President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga humiliated, city lawyer Nelson Havi has opined.
Havi said Uhuru could find himself with an egg on his face if Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga is declared the winner in the polls slated for next month on November 7.
The lawyer said the president despite being Jubilee party leader has not stepped in Kibra to campaign for Mariga.
On his part, Raila will be humbled if ODM's candidate Imran Okoth loses to Mariga or Eliud Owalo of Musalia Mudavadi-led Amani National Congress (ANC).
Havi said Raila will blame himself for accepting to compete with his partners in NASA; ANC and Moses Wetang'ula's Ford-Kenya which has fielded politician Khamisi Butichi.
"Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga are likely to be embarrassed in Kibra. Uhuru, if Mariga wins, which is likely; his Kieleweke wing having supported Imran, and Raila, if Owalo or Mariga win as a result of chaotic and divisive campaigns in NASA coalition," Havi tweeted on Sunday.
However, ODM has exuded confidence that its candidate will carry the day after Raila and his deputy Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya stormed Kibra on Sunday to campaign for Imran.
"It is official that the next MP for Kibra is Bernard Otieno Okoth Imran. Raila and Oparanya and the entire ODM battalion was at Laini Saba to confirm this. We urge voters in Kibra to wake up early on Thursday 7 (next week) to finish the job," ODM tweeted.
