A family in Nyamira county is yet to come to terms after their cow gave birth to a healthy calf without front legs on Thursday.
According to the owners of the cow Charles Onwong'a Orang'i and his wife Hellen Kemunto, the cow gave birth to the calf with only two back legs an incident which has left the public in a rude shock.
"I heard the cow at midnight making movements at the cowshed and decided to check on what was happening. I alerted my neighbour who came so that we can help the cow to deliver successfully," said Onwong'a as reported by Egesa Fm.
Confused Onwong'a noted that he was shocked when the cow gave birth only to find that the calf was unable to stand on its own.
"The calf did not stand on its own upon delivery. I had to milk the cow and feed the calf with milk," Onwong'a stated.
Kemunto argued that she has never seen such a calf before.
"This is total witchcraft because the cow delivered 3 calves in the past successfully," Kemunto noted.
Nyamira County commissioner Amos Mariba appealed to residents to stop being jealous, embrace peace and shun witchcraft dealings.
"Witchcraft is a barbaric practice which must not be practised by residents of Nyamira," he said.
