Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i for the first time shared podium and embraced with ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire, his chief critic.
At the burial of billionaire entrepreneur Stephen Mogeni on Sunday, the two leaders met and warmly embraced as the crowds cheered.
Matiang'i, who had arrived early, stood and extended his hand to Bosire, as the two leaders exchanged cordially in presence of other leaders.
This is the first time the two met in a public function, after years of animosity, characterised by hard politics that was initially viewed Jubilee-ODM battle.
After losing his Kitutu Masaba seat in 2017, Bosire accused Matiang'i of masterminding his defeat, adding that he could have rigged him.
"He knows how he cooked figures to remove me from the equation. He is behind shambolic elections in Kitutu Masaba. I never lost," Bosire had claimed.
In one of the functions at Miriri after 2017 polls, Dr Matiang'i openly celebrated Bosire's fall, arguing that his days had been numbered.
"I want to thank you for doing the most honorable thing. Removing him from power and giving me someone who I can easily work with," he said while congratulating Shadrack Mose.
Recently, a section of ODM leaders led by Governor John Nyagarama and James Ongwae visited Mr Raila Odinga at Capitol Hill, reportedly to push for Matiang'i's venture into politics.
However, Mr Bosire, a close ally of Raila, was conspicuously absent. His Sunday's reunion with Matiang'i could be the beginning of paradigm shift in Gusii politics.
