Harambee Starlets have left the country for Tanzania, barely a day after jetting in from Zambia, where they lost 1-0 to the Copper Queens of Zambia in a 2022 Olympics qualifier match.
The team left the country today morning for Dar es Salaam, where they are scheduled to participate in the CECAFA tournament.
"The team jetted back from Zambia on Tuesday night and immediately left for Tanzania on Wednesday morning in time for the upcoming CECAFA Women Championships set to kick off this weekend," the team management said.
The 1-0 loss to Zambia came as a huge disappointment to football-loving Kenyans who threw their support behind the team.
Had they won, they would have qualified for the final round of the 2020 Tokyo, Japan Olympics qualifiers, where they would have battled the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon, for the opportunity to fly Africa's flag at the international games.
During their Olympics qualification campaign, Starlets beat several teams including; Malawi and Ghana, but Zambia proved too good for them to handle.
Lifting the CECAFA trophy would be accepted by Kenyans as a fitting consolation, for the teams' brutal ejection from the Olympics qualifiers.
