With Jubilee party also expected to unveil a candidate even with ongoing internal disputes, Musalia Mudavadi's ANC has become the first major party to field a candidate.

On Wednesday at Musalia Mudavadi Center, ANC unveiled Eliud Owalo, a former campaign strategist for ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The ceremony was attended by Musalia Mudavadi, who was Raila's Chief Agent in disputed 2017 polls. The move could ignite sibling rivalry within NASA.

Early this month, Owalo resigned from ODM, insisting that his philosophy no longer matches with those of the Raila Odinga-led party.

According to him, his ideologies are no longer compatible with those being advocated by Raila Odinga's party, adding that he does not have any interest to continue being a member.

"It's with regret that I inform you my withdrawal of ODM membership immediately. My resignation is informed by the fact that my political ideologies and convictions no longer have convergence with that of ODM party.

"I therefore request that you facilitate instant removal of my name from the register of ODM party register. You urgent action will be graciously appreciated," he said in the letter.

ODM party is set to unveil her candidate on Saturday after party primaries. Mr Odinga on Sunday at Kibra, said majority of party supporters were in favour of competitive nominations.
