The two and their allies have been trading jabs lately, the latest scenario being on Sunday when Ruto referred to Raila as an anti-development campaigner who thrives on the poverty of Kenyans to remain relevant.

Sankok now claims that the enmity will soon wither and the former premier will ultimately join the DP ahead of the 2022 polls.

He has also predicted that Raila will be an important element in Ruto's presidential ambitions by leading his campaigns.

"I can assure you that come 2022 he will be Ruto's chief campaigner (atakuwa chief campaigner wa Ruto)," said the parliamentarian.

He made the remarks during an interview on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Wednesday night.

The MP also defended the DP regarding his heavy involvement in fundraisers and other charity functions, which has formed the basis of his fights with Raila.

Raila has on several occasions questioned the source of the millions the DP has been giving in contributions, expressing fears that they could be graft proceeds.

However, Sankok defended Ruto saying that the money is clean, adding that the DP should not be demonized for being generous.

"Ruto has been a businessman and a minister, that's where the money comes from. He doesn't drink alcohol like some people who spend the whole day drinking. (Ile pesa Ruto anatoa, amekuwa mfanyabiashara na waziri, na yeye hakunywi pombe sio kama wengine siku nzima wanatoa lock," he added.

The DP has repeatedly declared that no amount of criticism will stop him from participating in fundraisers.
