Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Sholei has said the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI), does not need a referendum for it's proposals to be implemented.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, Shollei said the proposals can be implemented by various currently existing state organs.
"As I support the implementation of the BBI proposals, I wish to state that all the recommendations in the BBI report do not require a referendum.
"They are capable of being implemented by ministries, state institutions, independent constitutional commissions and Parliament. For example, inclusivity can be achieved by reminding the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights and Equality Commission of their constitutional mandate to implement Chapter 4 of our Constitution," she said.
The Building Bridges Initiative report was on Wednesday launched at the Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi.
Following the launch, the report was made public, and Kenyan are expected to read and scrutinize it, after which any additional views will be incorporated before implementation of the final proposals.
Key among the issues the BBI report is aimed at addressing include; inclusivity, unity and peace after elections, fight against graft, and strengthening devolution.
