Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri handled his sacking wrongly, political analyst Ambrose Weda has said.

The commentator said Kiunjuri's reaction might lock him out of future opportunities, especially under President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to Weda, it was wrong for the ex-CS to take to take a press conference, and announce that he was not surprised by the President's decision to sack him.

Weda, who is also a High Court advocate noted that Kiunjuri should have welcomed the decision, and leave it at that.

"This issue of chest thumping is not proper. He should have only thanked the president and requested for another opportunity in the future," he said in an interview on KBC English Service on Wednesday morning.

Weda further noted that following Kiunjuri's firing, the latter is now free to engage in politics, and anything else he wants to.

This was in reference to Kiunjuri's "I am not going anywhere" remark, which has been translated as a declaration that he will be remaining politically active.

"Not going anywhere would have meant anything but whatever he does is his own choice to make now," he added.
