Former Mukurweini Member of Parliament Kabando wa Kabando has weighed in on the announcement by the National Police Service (NPS) of withdrawing security from VIPs involved in criminal activities.
In a tweet on Monday accompanied the statement by the National Police Service, the former legislator said that the move was a sign that the noose on the culture of impunity and corrupt was tightening.
He also urged the Kenyan people to rally behind the Judiciary in the war against graft.
"Inter-agency @EACCKenya @DCI_Kenya @ODPP_KE @NPSOfficial_KE tightening the noose on merchants of corruption, impunity. Eyes on @Kenyajudiciary, deserves our support. 2020: Kenya will emerge as a nation that crashed graft & impunity, thanks to #handshake #BBI #UhuRao triumphs," Kabando wa Kabando tweeted.
The police announced on Monday that security withdrawn from the VIPs suspected of involvement in crime would only be reinstated subject to clearance by a court of law.
President Uhuru Kenyatta appears to have intensified the war on high profile crime in a bid to secure his legacy as his second and final term draws to a close.
The head of state has been on record saying that no person involved in the crime will be spared regardless of their station in life.
