ODM leader Raila Odinga's son , Raila Junior has faulted the Standard over a story it carried citing that the handshake has strained Kenya's economy.
Raila Jnr pointed out that the country's economy has been on a low which cannot be attributed to the handshake.
In a tweet on Tuesday morning, he noted that it is improper to blaming the handshake for Kenya's economic hardship.
''Blaming economy woes on handshake is preposterous, our economy has not been doing well from way before so is the unemployment rate, economic solutions have to be sought beyond scapegoating,'' tweeted Jnr.
''The curse of handshake'' headline cited that the handshake eased political tension in the country but brought about economic problems.
"The deal between Uhuru and Raila numbed political tensions, but has turned into a juggernaut that is blind to shrinking economy, rising debt, unemployment and corruption. Yesterday’s critics are today’s cheerleaders, turning Parliamnet into Pentecostal chamber. Who will speak for Kenyans?’’ wrote the Standard on their top cover page.
Since the March 9, 2018 handshake, the country has continued to enjoy peace and political stability.
However, a section of Jubilee politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto has accused Raila of sabotaging the party through the handshake.
