The county boss says that the group, popularly known as Tangatanga, has been using the ailing Mt Kenya agriculture sector as a basis for their politicking.

However, he says that he now expects the group to go silent, given that President Uhuru Kenyatta has decided to adress the issues they have been complaining about.

The governor, who spoke to the Star, said that he hopes that the politicians, some of whom have been openly criticizing the president, will now laud his efforts.

“They have been leveraging on the fact that some things need to be done to uplift the sector, but now the President has gone deeper to offer solutions which means we should now see a reduction in political temperatures,” he said.

Wa Iria's remarks come only three days after the President sacked Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri and replaced him with Peter Munya, formerly the Trade CS.

The pro-Ruto group from the Mt Kenya has also been using the ailing milk, coffee and tea sector to oppose the proposed constitutional changes, arguing that there are better things to be done.

This comes only days after the governor said that he will not condone anyone attacking the president from Mt Kenya, threatening to deal with such elements politically.
