On Thursday, Sonko pitched tent in Machakos where he demanded for the release of workers attached to a hotel closely associated with former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile.

Mr Ndile had accused Mutua of witch-hunt, a move that saw Sonko joining him in solidarity. Mutua however, insisted that the move was informed by an inspection that was done.

Apparently, Sonko's onslaught against Mutua came days after the Machakos boss took photos of Tom Mboya and Dedan Kimathi statues in Nairobi, faulting City Hall for failing to maintain them.

"I believe bringing leadership to the grassroots will enable jobless youth to be dependent and be able to provide for their families.

“If Konza city would have been built, many Machakos youth would have been employed. We would have had an airstrip, supermarkets, and industries. But you chose a conman," he stated referring to Mutua.

On Sunday at Madaraka grounds in Athi River town, Sonko will be joined by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria in a meet people's tour at Mutua's stronghold.

The two will be ushered in by Mavoko MP Patrick Makau and Mr Kalembe Ndile, who is at war with Mutua. Kuria made the announcement on his Facebook.
