The DCI on Tuesday summoned five of the MCAs over the matter. The lawmakers are accused of causing chaos hence leading to the injuring of members of the staff.

The summoned MCAs are Mr Seth Okumu (East Seme), Ojwang Ogendo (Nyalenda A) Joseph Olale (Nyalenda B), Joachim Oketch (Kondele), Mr Seth Kanga of Milimani Market.

During the incident, the Sergeant at Arms, Mr George Omayo was compelled to flush out his gun when things ran out of control. He later called on the police to intervene after the situation escalated. The police were forced to chase away the MCAs from the house upon arrival. Omayo was compelled to escape from the scene as both MCAs and members of the public hauled stones at him.

The MCAs appeared before Kisumu Central Police Station where they were grilled by the DCI over the incident.

Earlier on, Kisumu Central DCI Noah Katumo had held a meeting with acting Clerk Owen Ojuok, acting Speaker Elisha Oraro and Majority Leader Kenneth Onyango ousted Speaker Onyango Oloo accusing MCAs of acting like hooligans following the incident.

“Even those who were shouting at me recently are facing criminal cases in court but the law provides for immunity for MCAs in an event that the issues happened in the assembly,” said Mr Oloo, as quoted by Daily Nation.

The troubled Speaker also said that he will soon be back in the office.

The MCAs have insisted that he can only return after he is cleared by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and court. Oloo is accused of abuse of office.
