Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has congratulated Mombasa county chief Hassan Joho on his consideration for a presidential award on Thursday.
Joho received The Second Class: Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH) award from President Uhuru Kenyatta as the nation celebrated her 55th Jamhuri Day.
But the award comes barely a year after the outspoken Governor engaged the President in a daring war of words, one that saw the President threaten to punish the opposition figure.
In an interview on Milele FM’s ‘Kivumbi’ Thursday morning, Kabogo said that the award was most likely as a result of the governor’s good job and could not be influenced by his relationship with the President.
‘’You have to appreciate your nemesis. They might have had their differences but the governor has done a good job. This can best be explained by his re-election,’’ he said.
‘’Hata watu wakipigana, kama kiongozi amefanya kazi nzuri lazima atuzwe,’’ Kabogo added.
Other leaders who were awarded the same honor include Embu Governor Martin Wambora and Suba South and National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi.
Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga, Josphat Nanok of Turkana and Narok Governor Samuel Tunai were also awarded.
