National Lands Commission (NLC) Chairperson nominee Gershom Otachi on Friday took the oath of office.
In his speech during a swearing-in ceremony presided over by Chief Justice David Maraga, Otachi promised new dawn to the Kenyans as he assumes his new role. He said he is going to serve the people without fear or favour.
He also pledged to resolve major land disputes as he takes over from the retired NLC Chairman Mohammed Swazuri
“As I take the leadership of the commission, I want to assure all Kenyans that I will be faithful to the constitution and the laws of Kenya while executing my duties. I am well aware that land matters are quite emotive, and I promise that together with other commissioners will resolve land disputes that will be presented to us, objectively, expeditiously and fairly,” Otachi promised, as quoted by Capital FM.
He also took the other of office alongside six other commissioners tasked with the mandate of discharging their duties to Kenyans from different walks of life.
The other officials sworn into office include Kazungu Kambi, Reginald Okumu, James Tuitoek, Muremi Mutegi, Gertrude Nduku and Hussein Alhaji,
The new nominees are expected to transform the commission as they assume their roles with immediate effect.
