While making the announcement, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’I said that persons who are not on official duties will face consequences if proven to be loitering around the offices.

Unauthorized people loitering around the authority's offices  have been accused of colluding with KRA officers in abetting tax fraud.

In a gazette notice, Matiang’i said idlers will be arrested and charged in the court of law over the same.

Individuals who will contravene the same risk facing a maximum of Sh5,000 fine or a jail term of up to two years or both.

If the offenders are found in possession of explosives or ammunition of any kind they will be fined Sh10,000.

“The areas, places or premises described in the schedule are declared to be protected areas for purposes of the Act and no person shall be in the specified areas without the permission of the prescribed authority or the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government,” Dr. Matiang’i says in the notice.

The CS said that the government will not tolerate cases of tax evasion as President Uhuru Kenyatta seeks to leave behind a legacy.
