Police believe that the man doused his wife in acid after strangling him on Thursday, in their home in North Kapuonja, before fleeing the area on Friday morning.

The decomposing body would later be discovered after her two year old baby crawled out of the house with bloodstained clothes, which attracted the attention of neighbours.

Confirming the incident, West Kisumu Chief Mary Adhiambo said that the body of the woman, a teacher at Ulalo Primary School, was found covered in a blanket.

He said that she had been living in the area for eight months, with preliminary investigations by the police indicating that the lady was as well strangled in the process of her murder.

People who saw the man leaving the house said that he was carrying a black bag, with the police having launched a manhunt in a bid to nab and prosecute him, reports the Citizen Digital.

The incident was condemned by Kisumu West Member of County Assembly Paul Okiri who visited the area, calling upon the police to see to it that the suspect is nabbed.

The body of the deceased was moved to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary pending a pathological test.
