According to the DCI, one of the suspects identified as Franklin Mbithi is believed to have had a work-related difference with the victim, Paul Kyoko.

His vehicle, a Toyota NZE is said to have picked up the victim who went missing on November 26 where he was strangled to death and his body dumped in River Athi.

"Report made to the police the late's wife on 30 November indicate that he went missing on 26th November when she couldn't reach him on phone," read the statement in part.

"The body is believed to have been disposed at River Athi and it's search is ongoing with aid from Disaster Management Agencies being sought due to high water levels," further read the statement.

Mbithi is reportedly said to have called the other two suspects, Samson Kataka who was hired to effect the murder and Benard Maore who helped in disposing of the body.

The police have managed to recover the rope used to strangle the victim and his phone which had been partially burned in an attempt to destroy it completely.

The three suspects will appear in court on Wednesday.
