42-year-old Daniel Ndambuki well known as Churchill due to his show aired on Kenya's NTV has launched Taji Recognition Awards to fete comedians.
The flamboyant comedian and radio presenter unveiled the awards on Friday during the third edition of International Africa Laugh Festival at the KICC, Nairobi.
Speaking during the awards, Churchill said; “We are introducing something, an award we call Taji to recognize individuals who have done so much in this comedy industry. We just did our personal stuff, next year we will give the fans a chance to choose whom they think deserves to win.”
The first comedian to land the award was Njugush and another one went to Managing Editor of NtV, Emmanuel Juma.
Churchill called Njungush on stage abruptly to surprise him with the Taji Humour Recognition Award: Online Creator for his exploits on the digital space.
Njungush took to his Instagram page to share with fans the joy he had for the award.
Juma was awarded for being humorous on the weekly segment 'The Bull’s Eye' that airs every Friday on NTV.
Justus Tharao who is the Production and Programming Operations Manager on NTV took the award on behalf of Emmanuel.
The award is set to be held every year.
