National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi has raised suspicion over the sudden change by heart by allies of Deputy President William Ruto towards the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Led by Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, the group which has been appearing opposed to the BBI on Tuesday came out to throw its weight behind it, vowing to attend the ongoing BBI consultative forums.
Mbadi, also the Suba South MP, now says that the move is questionable, insisting that their u-turn is not in good faith.
He says that as a result, the pro-BBI side will be alert, claiming that the group, popularity known as Tangatanga, could be up to no good and might be planning something against the BBI.
“We are watchful because we know they don’t mean well. If they didn’t show us their negative part and their opposition to BBI, we wouldn’t have known. Now that we are already very aware that they don’t like the report at all, we have to be very careful," he said on Wednesday.
He also warned them against giving conditions, after Murkomen, in the press conference in Nairobi, claimed that Kenyans will be mobilized to the forums to give their opinions.
The ODM Chairman said that all in all, they are welcome to join the push, as they are the ones who have been reluctant to support the process.
"It is they who decided to jump out and start attacking BBI process. If they have now realised that they are being isolated and they want to join us they are welcome because that is what the two leaders have always wanted — unity and working together,” he added.
