Police in Kwale county have arrested a woman who allegedly poured water on a census official in the ongoing national enumeration exercise.
The incident reportedly happened when the official attempted to collect Melissa Muli's details at Kilolapwa village in Msambweni, Kwale sub-county on Monday.
The incident was reported at the Diani Police Station where the officers heard that Muli poured the water on Teresiah Mwaura, the enumerator.
She allegedly did it on grounds that she did not like the questions she was being asked, reports the Standard.
The exercise which began on Saturday evening is set to end in one weeks time but has been marred with similar cases across the nation, which has landed several people in trouble.
A number of people have been arrested for assaulting the enumerators, while others have been nabbed for chasing them away.
Another official was gang-raped in Maseno, Kisumu, over the weekend, after being dropped off by her supervisor.
This follows the government's warning that those nabbed troubling the exercise will be dealt with, with the charges likely to attract a one-year jail term or an Sh500,000 fine or both.
The government seeks to use the details obtained for future planning and policymaking.
