Speaking at Ikalyoni primary school in Makueni County, Senators Mutula Kilonzo Junior (Makueni) and Ledama Ole Kina (Narok) on Saturday said that the new rules are not realistic in nature.

They lamented that the regulations are discriminatory in nature. They reminded the team that the changes do not abide by the law of this nation, adding that they must be scrapped with immediate effect.

The two leaders promised to reject the rules once they are presented to the house for debate.

They remarked that they cannot support changes aimed at frustrating the general public. Ole Kina said that leaders adopted a regulation allowing polygamous marriage and there is no way NHIF can segregate people with more than one wife.

"We approved a piece of legislation allowing polygamous marriage, it is wrong for NHIF to say that now if you have seven children or 2 wives, one wife and some children do not qualify the benefits of the scheme, this is discriminatory and we as legislators will reject it, he said.

On his part, Kilonzo said that the new regulations are dead on arrival. He said that they will shoot down the laws with immediate effect once they are presented to the house for debating.

Also, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has opposed the NHIF changes. He asked Kenyans to pray for the NHIF team.

“Good Morning Wakenya wenzangu let's pray for our beloved Country Kenya and all Leaders of this Nation. Hata NHIF tuwaombee they think about Motivation positive changes to fellow hustler like. If one contributes for a whole year without using the scheme for treatment, half of his /her contributions will be credited to his /her Mpesa account on the 1st of January the following year," he posted on his official Facebook page.
