Despite fierce rivalry between ODM leaders and former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, the enemnity seems political and only temporary.
The former Ikolomani MP lost his wife Adelaide on Saturday morning after being diagnosed with Pulmonary hypertension just two days ago.
For months now, Dr Khalwale has been going ballistic on the ODM leader Raila Odinga, following their fallout after the 2017 polls.
Early this week, Khalwale seemed to claim that Mr Odinga was desperate following his meeting with rebel Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa.
"Desperation at its peak! Gentlemen, take it easy! The girl is taken and gone," he said in reference to Mr Odinga.
But following the tragic news, the ODM team took on social media to mourn with Dr Khalwale. The party said it will stand with the family of Khalwale.
"Our condolences to Hon. @KBonimtetezi on the loss of his dear wife Mama Adelaide Khalwale today morning.
"The ODM party wishes Sen. Khalwale and family God’s strength and fortitude during this trying moment. We stand with you at this moment of grief. It is well," read the tweet.
Secretary General Edwin Sifuna also sent his condolences. For months now, Sifuna and Khalwale have been at loggerheads over the voting patterns in Western Kenya.
"Omwami @KBonimtetezi kindly accept my sincere condolences to you and your family for your loss. May God grant you grace and strength during this very tough time. May Mama rest in peace."
"Senator @KBonimtetezi, please accept my Sincere condolences to you and your entire family following the passing of your dear wife Adelaide. May God grant you strength at this trying moment. You are certainly in our thoughts and prayers," added Raila.
Dr Khalwale supports DP William Ruto and has projected himself as defacto campaigner in the expansive Western Kenya region.
