Western Stima tactician Salim Babu has been named coach of the month by Fidelity Insurance.
Babu lifted his second Fidelity Insurance Coach of the Month Award after beating Tusker FC coach Robert Matano for the December award.
Despite Matano's team being on top of the KPL log, the Stima coach managed to beat him with the number of goals after they both won three matches and drew one.
Addressing the media at Moi Stadium Kisumu on Tuesday, Babu said he won the award because of teamwork showed by his disciplined players, and technical bench, lauding Fidelity Insurance for motivating coaches.
“I thank God this is happening and the Fidelity Insurance for this kind of motivation. I also appreciate my disciplined players, technical bench and my family for the unwavering support,” said Babu.
Alongside the trophy, Babu earned Sh75,000 for emerging the best coach in December.
The tactician expressed optimism that his team will perform well in the near future, adding that players have been training hard.
"We signed good players, we are training hard and I believe we shall finish in good position at the end,” he added.
Western Stima is currently at position seven with a total of 30 points after 17 matches played.
