Police in Kiambu have arrested a 33-year-old man suspected of shooting his sister-in-law.
According to a statement by DCI, the suspect, Charles Githinji had escaped to Shanzu in Kisauni, Mombasa County after committing the heinous act.
The victim identified as Hellen Njoki was shot on the head by the suspect after a domestic squabble art her house in Landless, Ruaka area.
"Charles Githinji, murder suspect who on Dec 2, 2019, at Landless Area in Makongeni, Kiambu County shot dead his 25-Yr-old Sister-in-Law Hellen Njoki following a Domestic Violence was last night arrested at Shanzu Area in Kisauni- Mombasa County by DCI Thika West Detectives," read the tweet in part.
Police recovered a pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition which were hidden in the backyard. The motive behind the December 2 murder is still a mystery.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing and the suspect will be arraigned in court on Monday morning.
"Suspect placed in custody pending arraignment tomorrow as investigations continue to establish the actual motive behind the murder," read the tweet more.
