A man in Ohio, United States of America is facing charges of child endangerment, over allegations of locking up his daughter in a vacant apartment.
The girl, 3-year-old Janiyla Turner, was found on Sunday following a joint effort of police and concerned citizens, with the blame landing on her father Jeramie Turner.
Her search followed reports of her going missing by her mother on on Sunday, after which the accused was arrested on Monday and taken into police custody.
Her uncle who participated in the search said that they went around calling her name after a whole night of search, before hearing her voice responding from the apartment.
"She said hey. And I was like she in there. So first thing I had to must out the window. I had to save her," said Joshua Green, the uncle.
He added that the girl confessed that someone put her inside the house and locked it, the house being only a short distance from the girl's home.
The accused will be arraigned on Tuesday, where he will be charged with endangering the life of his daughter.
The 33-year-old is also expected to face charges of obstructing investigations, as the police attempt to establish how she ended up in the deserted unit.
