Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdirisack Jaldesa has put on notice police officers working with individuals selling and making illegal liquor.
He has warned that those who will be found will face the full force of law.
“I have received information from the public that there are some police officers who are working with those making and selling illicit brews by being given bribes. Such officers will be arrested and sacked,” said Jaldesa.
Speaking in his office on Saturday, the County Security boss said it’s the work of the police to fight illegal liquor and not to work with those involved in the illegal business.
He pointed out that the majority of the officers working with the criminals are those who have overstayed in a station and hinted on transferring them.
“As a government, we will work round the clock to ensure that the sale or intake of illegal alcohol is a thing of the past and we cannot stay mum while a section of police officers is derailing our efforts,” noted Jaldesa.
He further revealed that they are working with other agencies to close all the loopholes that have allowed the illicit liquor to make its way into the markets in the county.
He also asked residents to report rogue police officers so that stern actions can be taken against them.
