In a series of tweets, the president of the United States of America has announced that he is switching his permanent residence from New York to Florida.
He said that he had taken the dramatic decision because of what he described as the bad treatment he had received from New York's leaders in spite of dutifully paying his taxes.
He said that he had paid “millions of dollars in city, state and local taxes each year.”
“I have been treated very badly by the political leaders of both the city and state. Few have been treated worse,” he said
The president was born and came of age in Queens, New York where he set a business empire and made a fortune.
He has been variously described by the US media as a consummate New Yorker.
For some leaders from the state of New York, it was good riddance.
Andrew Cuomo, who is the New York governor, challenged the claim by the president of being a dutiful taxpayer.
“It’s not like Mr. Trump paid taxes here anyway. He’s all yours, Florida, " Governor Andrew .M. Cuomo tweeted.
Trump, who pulled an upset in the 2016 presidential elections, did not hide his intention to continue staying at the White House after next presidential election if he is elected.
