Popular comedian Eric Omondi was recently dragged into a fierce online debate in which Kenyans were expressing mixed reactions over body shaming and cyberbullying.
The debate sparked after Kiss FM radio presenter Lynda Nyangweso made a revelation about her experience with cyberbullying.
While discussing the matter surrounding the radio presenter, a section of Kenyans on social media also stated that it was not right for Erick Omondi to be teased and made fun of because of his body size.
According to the group of netizens, such actions can also be viewed as body shaming and cyberbullying.
However, a section of social media users argued that the case was different for Eric Omondi. They argued that the nature of his career and personality almost justified the jokes made against him.
In addition, they also claimed that Eric Omondi was comfortable with such jokes because he is a comedian.
Lynda Nyangweso, on the other hand, was extremely uncomfortable with the comments made about her and had complained about it severally.
Another group of Kenyans on Twitter, however, remained adamant that making fun of someone’s physical appearance regardless of the situation is body shaming and can be termed as cyberbullying.
Eric Omondi has however not commented on the matter.
Here are some of the reactions from Twitter.
