A section of Western Kenya leaders are scheduled to expected to meet on Sunday January 12, 20220,at Nzoia Guest Lodge for in-house deliberations ahead of the Bukhungu rally.
According to ODM Communication Director Philip Etale, the meeting will bring together political leaders, religious leaders, trade unionists, educationists, county officials and other stakeholders to come up with a joint memorandum that will be presented during the main BBI rally at Bukhungu Stadium next Saturday.
The region is set to meet in Bukhungu on January 18th with President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga expected to join them.
The meeting will be the second forum for Building Bridges Initiative, in which locals are expected to put their input.
At Nzoia Guest Lodge, delegates from Vihiga, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Busia and Kakamega rolled in amid escalating differences between local leaders.
"Delegates arriving for the BBI Consultative Forum at the Nzoia Guest House in Bungoma County. The meeting will come up with resolutions which will be presented at the Western Regional BBI Conference at Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday 18," Etale posted.
Governors Wycliffe Oparanya, Wycliffe Wangamati are among the organisers of the BBI Western edition forum.
However, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula have already opposed the meeting, arguing that they are yet to be invited.
"My brother Wetangula and I have not received an invitation to the January 18th Bukhungu Meeting. Someone decided to invite us through social media," he said.
"We need to be respected and this matter treated with the seriousness it deserves," he added.
