The Uasin Gishu County Assembly will host the 2019 County Assemblies Sports Association (CASA) games.
This was confirmed after Uasin Gishu County Assembly speaker David Kiplagat received the mantle from his Nairobi counterpart Chege Mwaura who hosted the event last year.
Speaking after receiving the mantle on Wednesday at the County Assembly premises, Kiplagat said it was a great honour for the county to host the second CASA games.
“We are proud to be selected to host this event which comes fresh from us being the first County Assembly to host the Senate sittings outside Nairobi.
“I thank the (CASA) games governing council for choosing Uasin Gishu and we won’t let you down,” the speaker said.
On his part, Mwaura said the main aim of the games is to entrench friendship among the 47 counties.
“We want counties to work together through sports,” he said.
CASA games are held annually with all Members of County Assembly and staff from the 47 counties participating.
In last year's games, Uasin Gishu County Assembly emerged overall winners during the games held at Kasarani Stadium.
The games will start on September 27, to October 5, 2019.
