The former senator, who has been vocal on matters of national interest, said that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji should dig deeper into the matter before issuing more warrants of arrest.

He asked the government to protect local entrepreneurs for the sake of development.

“Until such a time that impeccable facts are advanced by the DPP, reason commands that we stand by our local Keroche Industries. If it is true that a company can evade payment of Sh14 billion then KRA is an incompetent institution populated by fools,” he tweeted.

Tabitha and her husband were freed on Sh10 million and Sh2 million cash bail respectively. Their defense lawyer James Orengo said that there is no evidence to prove that the businesspersons owed the taxman the said amount.

“There's no evidence tabled before you to show that the Sh14 billion should be taken into account in determining the bail; give us reasonable cash bail It will not be necessary for them to deposit their travel documents given the enterprise they run,” he said.
