15 years ago, Senegal beat Kenya 3-0 in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) second group match, and on Monday night, the script was still the same. Elsewhere, Tanzania were sent home after a 3-0 loss to Algeria.
Harambee Stars finished at position three in the group, and have to wait for results from the final two group fixtures involving Benin and Angola to determine whether they qualify or not.
If both Benin and Angola lose, Kenya will advance as one of the four best third placed teams overall.
Benin face Cameroon in one most high-profile game in the groups, with the latter leading the table with 4 points, while the former is in third with 2 points.
Cameroon head into this match having won 2-0 over Guinea Bissau, and drew 0-0 against Ghana.
In the other group, Angola is set to face Mali in a much anticipated match. The former are third in Group E two points behind the latter who have 4 points.
Kenya could be confident of progressing to the knockouts if the results of the two matches go our way.
