Renowned KTN prime time television presenter Lindah Oguttu has hit out at the Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) over a tweet that it made on Monday hours after the Likoni Ferry incident that claimed the lives of a mother and her child.
Expressing her anger on Monday night, the presenter shared a tweet made by the KFS that appeared to downplay the tragic incident.
In the tweet, KFS made absolutely no mention of the incident that has left the country in shock sparking widespread revulsion from a section of social media users.
"The most annoying thing for me today as I wrap up this show is the tweet that was sent out by Kenya Ferry Services in the morning. I mean this is a woman who drowned yesterday in the evening and Kenya Navy the first thing they tweeted in the morning was, 'Good morning, We are serving you with four ferries at the Likoni channel and one at the Mtongwe channel. We wish you a blessed and fruitful day'.Guys! Less than 12 hours after this happened and Kenya Ferry tweets to tell people that we wish you a blessed and fruitful day...Doesn't make sense," she said.
A section of Kenyans has lurched onto the tweet to accuse the KFS of what they called cold indifference to the Sunday evening incident.
Adding to the anger of Kenyans is the realisation that there was no immediate response to the incident as there were no standby divers.
In a statement after the sinking of the car, KFS said that it had launched an investigation into the circumstances of the tragic incident.
