Ever since surviving an expulsion from ODM party early this year, the Msambweni MP has taken a low profile, minimising his participation in the regional politics.

According to the paper, the Coastal Parliamentary Group leader has been unwell. However, it's not clear where he is currently receiving medical attention.

ODM in March said the decision on Dori was deferred ‘following his letter of apology to the Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna in which he apologised to the party for his rebellion’.

"A special National Governing Council meeting in which Hon. Suleiman Dori will appear to present his case following his letter of apology will be held within the next 60 days #ODMNGC — The ODM Party (@TheODMparty) March 1, 2019," the party had tweeted.

The firebrand MP had taken a special role in DP Ruto's campaign. However, he since made a u-turn and visited Mr Odinga along with Governor Hassan Joho.

"Governor @HassanAliJoho and @governorkingi together with Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori paid me a visit at Capitol Hill Square. We had a discussion on issues of national interest with a particular emphasis on the coastal region," Raila had said.

Ever since the exit of Mr Dori, Dr Ruto's team has been struggling at the coast. Over the weekend, a number of leaders allied to ODM skipped his events.

People close to Mr Mvurya, who did not want to be identified in this story, told the Nation that the governor failed to show up because he had not been involved in inviting the DP, and therefore felt left out.

“It is all about politics. And we are aware that the Deputy President was invited by Lunga Lunga MP Khatib Mwashetani and this might have angered the governor. The governor has endorsed his deputy Fatuma Achani, and by virtue of attending the functions could have been seen as endorsing Mr Mwashetani,” said the source.

Also battling an illness is Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris who on Monday went to Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi where she's admitted currently.
