Nominated MP Maina Kamanda now says that it's his prayer that Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid flops.
Kamanda is among the Jubilee Party politicians who have openly declared their opposition for the DP, and who have openly stated that they will not back Ruto's heavily popularised bid.
In a press conference at Parliament buildings on Monday, he stated that he is actually praying that Ruto never makes it, as he told him to cease fighting President Uhuru Kenyatta's leadership.
"Wait for your election as president if God wants that but in my opinion, I pray that God never lets you become president (Wewe ngoja wakati wako uchaguliwe kama Mungu atakubali lakini kwa maoni ya Maina Kamanda ni ya kwamba Mungu akujalie usije ukawa president," he said.
He reminded the DP who he also claimed runs half of the government, that he remains just a deputy and should stop behaving like a president.
"We know that you were elected together and you were given half of the government and that's what makes you think you are also a president. You were not elected as president, wait for your time (Tunajua mlichaguliwa pamoja na ukapewa serikali kama nusu na ndiyo inakufanya uone kama wewe pia ni president, wewe haukuchaguliwa president, ngojea wakati wako)," he added.
However, the DP has repeatedly acknowledged his position behind the President, terming himself Uhuru's 'mtu wa mkono' (spanner boy).
