Police officers in Magunga in Homa Bay county are holding three fishermen accused of raping a woman within the county.
The fishermen at Tangwe Beach are accused of gang-raping the 48-year-old victim in her house at Rangwa in Suba North sub-county on Saturday, at 8 pm.
Suba South Sub County Police Commander said that the group also robbed the woman of her money and phone after breaking into her house and also assaulted her.
“They broke the door and forced their way in. The suspects confronted the woman and strangled her before raping her,” he said, adding that they left her unconscious.
He said that the four are currently being held at the Magunga Police Station left the victim with serious neck injuries before she was rushed to Sub County Hospital.
She was later transferred to the Homa Bay Referral Hospital for further treatment, reports the Nation.
The police boss said that the suspects will be arraigned once investigations are concluded and are likely to be prosecuted with charges revolving around rape.
According to the Citizen Digital, the three are Frederick Ojwang', Joseph Okinyi and Geoffrey Chacha and robbed the woman of Sh2,000 and a phone worth Sh2,000.
